The Hosokawa Micron Viblette VBL is a wet sieve particle size analyzer capable of analyzing a wide range of materials from 10 to 4,750 microns. Wet sieves work similarly to air jet sieves, except it uses water in the sieving process. This allows the analyzer to analyze sticky material, as the water prevents the material from sticking together. It also allows for the processing of materials that increase volume at the addition of air, such as coffee. The sieve works by administering water to the material as it is being sieved. It also breaks up any agglomeration using vibrations while sieving the content. This video shows that process taking place.
